It is BC's premier (and newest) public tennis facility named after the #1 world ranked doubles player and native North Vancouverite, Grant Connell. Since it's opening in October 1999, the Centre has been a huge success with a number of local clubs following it's program model.

Facility

Six indoor hard courts (permanent structure) year round. Glassed viewing area, meeting area and shower/change facilities.

Programs

GCTC is one of only 4 centres in BC designated a Tennis Canada High Performance Tennis Development Centre (TDC). The program is designed and implemented by Tennis Director Wayne Elderton. He is the only Tennis Canada certified National Level 4 Coach in Western Canada. He is also certified by the PTR at the Professional level. Wayne is the Tennis BC 2002 High Performance Coach of the year and coaches many of the provinces top junior and wheelchair players. He supervises a staff of 6 coaches. Klaus Schlotz, Tracy Bennet, Jesse Evans, Nick Courts, Todd Crowther and Goran Zovko. The centre boasts a program that has been acknowledged as one of the best in the country, successfully moving hundreds of people to their personal best every year. The junior program offers a full range of training from an active Mini-Tennis academy to GCTC's top rated High Performance academy. A full spectrum of adult instructional, competitive, and social programs are also available. The instructional program starts with USA Tennis 1-2-3 and continues with clinics at the 2.0-3.5 levels. There is lively league action from 1.5-4.0 as well. Since it is a public facility, no membership is required and the centre is open to everyone.
